One of the world’s most popular gamers, the former professional Halo player turned full-time streamer, is in a class of his own. For anyone unfamiliar with Tyler’s ascent to celebrity, here’s a cheat sheet: he began playing Halo 3 professionally in 2009 for various organizations and began streaming in 2011. In 2017, he began streaming Fortnite, and as the game took off in popularity, his followers grew from 500,000 to over 2,000,000. By spring of 2019, he had over 21,000,000 subscribers on YouTube. Before moving to Mixer, he was the most followed streamer on the Twitch platform, with 50,000+ viewers per week.

Will his fans tune in to see gaming’s first crossover star and his family reprise their roles on a Feud stage? We certainly think so!

It’s not the first run at a Feud victory for Team Blevins—the family has some know-how under their respective belts after a great run in 2014 on the syndicated version of the show.

Tyler’s fame was on the rise at that point, but the family’s competitive spirit was already well intact and they moved from their YouTube audition tape on to the main stage with grace, winning three games and two Fast Money rounds. “We watched the show so much, we knew we’d be good,” Tyler confirmed.

Recently asked to join Celebrity Family Feud, Tyler said, “We had so much fun the first time, it was a no-brainer to say yes. Stack Up was founded in 2015 to bring both veterans and civilians together through programs tied to the love of gaming.

India has much more on her plate than the average high school student, undergoing monthly blood transfusions for sickle cell anemia, monitoring pseudoxanthoma elasticum disorder, and pursuing a new-technology remedy for septo-optic dysplasia, which is a vision disability caused by her optic nerves not fully developing. But, with a huge smile and killer determination, nothing is slowing India down; “I work hard every day.”

When Make-A-Wish^® America learned of India’s story, the organization set a plan into motion. India has grown up with a number of Steve Harvey shows, but her favorite is Family Feud, so she chose her wish accordingly. Off to LA for the real deal!

The Family Feud team and Steve were beyond excited to welcome India, her mother Yolanda, and her brother Nigel into their family for a day on set. India described the experience as “absolutely wonderful” and was thrilled to be at rehearsals and then the live show, where she had a chance to chat with Steve during commercials.

The Brooks family also got to go up on stage to congratulate the day’s winners as the show wrapped. And did we mention birthday cupcakes? The day in whole was a celebration of a very special guest of honor.

Yolanda had only praise for the experience, crediting Make-A-Wish^® for their excellent handling of every detail in order to create an amazing experience for her daughter. She also expressed gratitude for Steve’s appreciation and encouragement of India’s art; “He helped her believe in her art, which is so important – people are in awe of her ability when they learn about her vision disability. God really did give her a gift.”

India’s wish experience came on the heels of another emotional journey. In February, she had the opportunity to test eSight glasses, which are electronic glasses that restore or enhance sight for people living with vision loss. “With the glasses, it was the first time I could see my mom clearly. We were both crying because it was so emotional and so amazing,” India shared.

Yolanda is ever hopeful and supportive of India’s dreams to work within a school system by day so that she can set off her own fashion designing business, which is her true passion. She’s also hopeful that sharing India’s story will inspire other kids facing tough obstacles to keep fighting.

A little history. It’s been a few years (ok, a few decades) since Feud took home the Emmy for Outstanding Game Show, but don’t let that fact fool you. Every nomination since has been a point of pride for the entire Feud team! The win officially includes (from left to right): Julio Alva (Line Producer), Brian Hawley (Co-Executive Producer), Sara Dansby (Co-Executive Producer), Bryce Keigley (Producer), Gaby Johnston (Executive Producer and Showrunner), and Kristin Bjorklund (Co-Executive Producer – not pictured).

Executive Producer Gaby Johnston couldn’t be more excited to share this recognition in celebration of the hard work and joy that goes into creating this mainstay in daytime TV. “We have the greatest team – they’re kind, they’re funny, and they’re wonderful,” she praised before thanking Steve Harvey for his dedication to the show and his comedic contributions, “Every day, every show, Steve gives 150%.”

Family Feud also won this year for Outstanding Directing for a Game Show. “I am so thrilled to accept this Emmy award on behalf of my entire Family Feud crew who give so much of themselves for the show,” shared director Ken Fuchs, “We are truly family and we love coming to work every day.”

Though Family Feud didn’t walk away with the award for Outstanding Live and Direct to Tape Sound Mixing, the team still has much to celebrate. Dirk Sciarrotta, head of Feud’s sound department, Phil Gebhardt, FOH mixer, and Liza Tan, floor A-2, did win the award for their sound-mixing work on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Dirk is a five-time winner in this category and gives props to his Feud team all the same, “I was lucky enough to win for Ellen, but my heart really wanted to win for Family Feud.”

It’s been an incredible run this year and we are going to continue our celebrations into the summer. Thank you again to the families who feud and the families who watch Feud – we also celebrate you. As for you, Emmys, we’ll see you again next May!

Ken Fuchs, our director, whose expansive directorial portfolio includes some of the most popular and influential projects on TV, uses the phrase “cross-genre exceptional” when describing what makes Feud stand out. He elaborated, “Family Feud is a game show, a comedy special, and a reality show all wrapped up into one.”

For over a decade, Fuchs has directed ABC’s mega-hits, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, and he recently earned both Emmy and DGA nominations for his work on Shark Tank. He’s also honed his comedy chops over the years, working on shows like Later with Greg Kinnear, The Roseanne Show, and Fox’s Emmy-winning variety series, The Ben Stiller Show. He recently directed the CNBC re-boot of Deal Or No Deal which he is very proud of.

And congratulations to Ken and Kate Fuchs, proud parents of 5-month-old baby Bella Fuchs! Ken added “I’d love to win this year so I can put the Emmy statue in my newborn daughter Bella’s room! Every baby needs an Emmy doll!”

Dirk Sciarrotta, the head of Feud’s sound department, credits a hardworking sound crew for this nod, “I’ve been with the show for 21 seasons now and this is the second time it’s been nominated for sound mixing.” With a sound crew consisting of five people – production mixer, front-of-house mixer, playback mixer, and two floor A-2’s, this team gets the job done, and done well.

With schedules and DVRs set and viewing parties held, reality shows have no question surpassed the simple label of “guilty pleasure” in favor of widespread popularity. Which is the perfect segue into the Reality TV Awards.

The brainchild of executive producers Kristen Moss and Andrew Ward, this award show was designed to celebrate not only what viewers love to watch, but also the hard work that goes into creating fan favorite shows. Now in its sixth year, the RTVAs rely on industry votes in addition to public voting in determining the night’s big winners. As the reality genre hosts an incredible gamut of choices that are all-inclusive and often inspiring—if not just downright fun—so do these awards.

With 21 categories this year and six brand new “fan favorite” categories (check them all out here), to consider, even voting is entertaining. Bravolebrity? Check. Bad Ass Crew (did you think contestants were out there alone on Deadliest Catch or Life Below Zero?!). Feel Good Shows. Ahhh. Naturally, here at Feud we have a vested interest in this year’s Best Game/Variety Show and Best Host/Hostess, but in the true spirit of reality TV, to each their own!

Whether adrenaline junkies, aspiring chefs, designers, entrepreneurs, and on, as well as opportunities tied to work behind the scenes, Moss has seen people’s lives change incredibly through many of the nominated shows. Through reality TV, “Ordinary people are given an extraordinary opportunity to do something incredible. What makes the RTVAs so special is that our awards give insight into the work it takes to create these shows in addition to what the viewers see.”
